Training Subsidy
The government covers up to 75% of your training costs.
Japan's 人材開発支援助成金 (Human Resource Development Support Subsidy) reimburses companies for employee training in AI and digital transformation. Our workshop is designed to qualify.
Training cost subsidy for SMEs (中小企業). Plus ¥1,000 per person per training hour as a wage subsidy.
Training cost subsidy for large enterprises. Plus ¥500 per person per training hour as a wage subsidy.
How it works
The subsidy is a reimbursement. Your company pays the full training fee upfront, applies through your local labor bureau (労働局), and receives the subsidy after the training is complete. The money goes directly to your company — not to us.
The specific track is called 事業展開等リスキリング支援コース — designed for companies adopting AI, digital transformation, or expanding into new business areas. Our AI workshop fits squarely within this.
Subsidy rates
| SME | Large Enterprise | |
|---|---|---|
| Training cost subsidy | 75% | 60% |
| Wage subsidy (per person/hr) | ¥1,000 | ¥500 |
| Expense cap (10–100 hrs) | ¥300,000 | ¥200,000 |

The process
Applications are handled by a 社労士 (licensed social insurance labor consultant) — this is legally required. We help prepare the training documentation; the 社労士 handles the paperwork.
Plan ahead
Engage a 社労士 and submit the training plan notification (計画届) to your local labor bureau. This must be filed 1–6 months before training starts.
Take the workshop
Your team participates in the workshop. Keep attendance records and pay the full fee upfront.
Submit claim
Within 2 months after training ends, your 社労士 submits the subsidy claim (支給申請) with all documentation.
Receive payment
The labor bureau reviews and pays the subsidy directly to your company. Expect 3–6 months processing time.
What we handle
We can't file the application for you — that's the 社労士's job by law. But we make the process as smooth as possible.
We prepare
- Subsidy-ready curriculum documentation
- Time schedules meeting the 10+ hour minimum
- Itemized invoices and payment receipts
- Provider consent form (Form 12)
You arrange
- Engage a 社労士 for filing
- Attendance records during training
- Wage records for participants
- Upfront payment of training fee
Time limit
This subsidy track expires at the end of FY2026 (March 31, 2027). The 事業展開等リスキリング支援コース was created as a limited-period program (FY2022–FY2026). Whether it will be renewed is unknown. If you're considering AI training for your team, the window to take advantage of the most generous rates is closing.
Who qualifies
Any company in Japan with employees enrolled in 雇用保険 (employment insurance). Both SMEs and large enterprises are eligible — the difference is only the subsidy rate. Foreign-owned companies with a Japanese entity qualify on the same terms.
The training must be at least 10 hours of structured off-the-job learning, clearly connected to digital transformation or business development. Our workshop exceeds this requirement.
Next steps
Talk to us
We'll walk you through the workshop, how it fits your team, and whether the subsidy applies to your situation. No commitment at this stage.
Confirm eligibility
Check that your company has 雇用保険 coverage and that participating employees are enrolled. Confirm whether you're classified as SME or large enterprise — this determines the subsidy rate (75% or 60%).
Engage a 社労士
A licensed social insurance labor consultant handles all subsidy paperwork — this is legally required, not optional. They'll manage the filing, deadlines, and compliance. If you don't have one, we can point you in the right direction.
Set up prerequisites
Your 社労士 will guide you through: appointing a skills development officer (職業能力開発推進者), creating an internal development plan, and finalizing the participant list. These are one-time requirements.
File the training plan
Your 社労士 submits the plan notification (計画届) to the labor bureau at least 1 month before the workshop starts. We provide the curriculum documentation and course details they need to file.
Take the workshop
Your team participates in the workshop. You pay the full fee upfront and keep attendance records for every session — start times, end times, breaks. Your 社労士 will tell you exactly what to track.
Submit the claim
Within 2 months after the workshop ends, your 社労士 submits the subsidy claim with all documentation — attendance records, wage records, our invoices, and the provider consent form we sign. This deadline is strict.
Receive payment
The labor bureau reviews the application and pays the subsidy directly to your company's bank account. Processing typically takes 3–6 months.
